U.S. speed camera communities
Speed safety cameras can discourage speeding when used properly. Read more on our main speed page.
Since New York City implemented the first red light safety camera program in 1992, IIHS has been using reputable media sources to track jurisdictions that implement or deactivate red light and speed safety camera programs. Occasionally, jurisdictions and vendors quietly start or complete a contract without media fanfare. Such cases may not be reflected in this list. If you believe a jurisdiction has been omitted or included erroneously, contact Laurel Sims at [email protected].
