Moderate overlap front: original test

Rating applies to 2008-09 models

Tested vehicle: 2008 Suzuki XL7 Limited 4-door 4wd

The Suzuki XL7 was redesigned for the 2007 model year. Beginning with 2008 models, design changes were made to the driver frontal airbag and seat belt to improve occupant protection in frontal crashes.

Frontal ratings are assigned by the Institute based on a test conducted by General Motors as part of frontal crash test verification. The XL7 is built in a GM plant in Canada; the tested vehicle was a 2007 model incorporating the airbag and seat belt changes for 2008 models.

Rating applies to 2007-09 models

Tested vehicle: 2008 Suzuki XL7 Luxury 4-door 4wd with standard head curtain airbags for all three rows of seats

The Suzuki XL7 was redesigned for the 2007 model year. During the crash, welds within the B-pillar separated and the inner portion of the pillar intruded excessively into the occupant compartment, resulting in a rating of Poor for the structure.
