Driver restraints and dummy kinematics
Dummy movement was reasonably well controlled. There was too much upward movement of the steering wheel. After the dummy moved forward into the airbag, it rebounded into the seat. Then it moved toward the driver door, which had bowed outward, and its head hit the B-pillar.

Action shot taken during the frontal offset crash test.

Post-crash damage shot.

The steering wheel moved up sharply during the offset test. This contributed to the dummy's head bottoming out the airbag and hitting the wheel.
