Driver restraints and dummy kinematics
Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. As the dummy moved into the airbag, it moved toward the driver door. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the B-pillar. There was far too much upward movement of the steering wheel.

Action shot taken during the frontal offset crash test.

The dummy's position in relation to the steering wheel and instrument panel after the crash test -- plus the footwell intrusion -- indicate the driver's survival space wasn't maintained well.

The steering wheel moved upward far too much. Another problem is that the head restraints aren't high enough to protect most people in rear-end impacts.

The vehicle's wheel was driven back into the footwell, contributing to the possibility of leg injuries.
