Moderate overlap front: original test

Rating applies to 2002 models

Tested vehicle: 2002 Isuzu Rodeo LS 4-door 4wd

The Isuzu Rodeo and the Honda Passport were redesigned for the 1998 model year and structurally modified beginning with 2000 models to improve occupant protection in frontal crashes. Beginning with 2002 models, airbag modifications were made to further improve occupant protection.

Driver restraints and dummy kinematics
Dummy movement was reasonably well controlled. The driver's seat tipped toward the door. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the roof rail and grab handle.

Action shot taken during the frontal offset crash test.

The dummy's position in relation to the steering wheel and instrument panel after the crash test indicates that the driver's survival space was maintained well, despite some buckling of the A-pillar.

Forces on the head when the dummy moved into the airbag were moderately high, indicating the possibility of head injuries.

Forces on the right lower leg and both feet were high enough to indicate the possibility of injury.
