Driver restraints and dummy kinematics
Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. After moving forward into the airbag, the dummy's head was hit from behind by the seatback as it moved forward because of floor buckling. The dummy's head hit the steering wheel through the airbag as the wheel moved upward and the seat pitched forward.

Action shot taken during the frontal offset crash test.

Collapse of the occupant compartment left little survival space for the driver.

The dummy's head hit the steering wheel through the deflating airbag because of steering wheel movement and buckling of the floor under the driver seat.

The dummy's left knee sustained high forces as it jammed against the knee bolster.
