How the moderate overlap front test is conducted

Side: original test

Rating applies to 2014-16 models

Tested vehicle: 2014 Buick LaCrosse 4-door with standard front and rear head curtain airbags and standard front and rear seat-mounted torso airbags

The Buick LaCrosse was redesigned for the 2010 model year. Beginning with 2014 models, side torso airbags became standard for rear seat occupants (they were optional in 2010-13 models). Also, the front door trim was modified.

Two tests of the LaCrosse were conducted, one of a 2010 model (without the then-optional rear side torso airbags) by the Institute and the other a 2014 model by General Motors as part of side crash test verification. These vehicles are rated separately, except that the structure ratings for both vehicles are based on both tests.
