Moderate overlap front: original test

Rating applies to 2012-14 models

Tested vehicle: 2012 Kia Sedona LX

The Kia Sedona was redesigned for the 2006 model year. Beginning with 2012 models, the front seat lap/shoulder belts were modified to improve occupant protection in frontal crashes. Moderate overlap frontal ratings are assigned by the Institute based on a test conducted by Hyundai as part of frontal crash test verification. However, because there were no significant front structural upgrades, the structural rating of the current model is based on both Hyundai's test and an earlier Institute test of a 2006 model.

There were no 2013 models, but the Sedona became available again with no significant changes for the 2014 model year.

Side: original test

Rating applies to 2006-14 models

Tested vehicle: 2006 Kia Sedona LX with standard head curtain airbags for all three rows of seats and standard front seat-mounted torso airbags

The Kia Sedona was redesigned for the 2006 model year. The Hyundai Entourage was introduced as a 2007 model in spring 2006 and was discontinued after the 2008 model year.

There were no 2013 models of the Sedona, but the minivan became available again with no significant changes for the 2014 model year.

Action shot taken during the side impact crash test showing the driver dummy's head was protected from being hit by hard structures by the side curtain airbag.

Smeared greasepaint shows where the rear passenger dummy’s head was protected by the side airbag.
