1In Louisiana, all driver’s license applicants must complete a driver education course. For applicants under age 18, the applicant must obtain a temporary instruction permit (TIP) from the Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) and present it to their driver education provider in order to complete their course. Upon course completion, the TIP is surrendered to the OMB and exchanged for a learner’s permit at no additional cost. The knowledge test is generally administered by the driver education provider.
