Test details:

The Nissan Versa was introduced in the 2007 model year. The frontal offset crash test ratings apply to both the hatchback and sedan versions of the car through the 2011 model year. Beginning with 2012 models, the sedan was redesigned but the hatchback was not. Therefore the frontal offset ratings detailed below do not apply to the 2012 model sedan.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. The side curtain and side thorax airbags deployed during the crash. After the dummy moved forward into the frontal airbag, its head contacted the side curtain airbag.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the neck, chest, and both legs indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the dummy's head when it hit the steering wheel through the airbag indicate that head injuries would be possible.

Left to right:

  • Action shot taken during the frontal offset crash test.
  • The dummy's position in relation to the steering wheel and instrument panel after the crash test indicates that the driver's survival space was maintained well.
  • A high head acceleration occurred when the dummy's head hit the steering wheel through the airbag.
  • Intrusion into the driver's space was minimal, and all leg and foot injury measures were low.

Additional features:

  • Side airbags: front and rear head curtain airbags and front seat-mounted torso airbags
  • Electronic stability control (standard on 2012 models, optional on 2010-11 models)
  • Antilock brakes (standard on 2011-12 models, optional on 2007-10 models)
