Test details:

The Toyota Yaris was introduced in the 2007 model year. Beginning with 2009 models, side airbags were made standard.

Two tests of a 2007 Yaris sedan were conducted, one with optional side airbags for the driver and rear passenger, and one without. These vehicles are rated separately, except that the structural ratings for both vehicles are based on both tests.

The side ratings also apply to the 4-door hatchback (5-door) version of the Yaris, beginning with 2009 models, when it was introduced, through the 2011 models. The ratings do NOT apply to the hatchback beginning with 2012 models, when it was redesigned. Beginning with 2012 models, the sedan is available new only to fleets.

Injury measures:

Driver — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.

Rear passenger — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.

Head protection:

Driver — The dummy’s head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof.

Rear passenger — The dummy’s head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof.
