Test details:

The Kia Sedona was redesigned for the 2006 model year. Beginning with 2012 models, the front seat lap/shoulder belts were modified to improve occupant protection in frontal crashes. Frontal ratings are assigned by the Institute based on a test conducted by Hyundai as part of frontal crash test verification. However, because there were no significant front structural upgrades, the structural rating of the current model is based on both Hyundai's test and an earlier Institute test of a 2006 model.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the B-pillar.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity. Head acceleration from the B-pillar hit was low.

Additional features:

  • Side airbags: head curtain airbags for all three rows of seats and front seat-mounted torso airbags
  • Electronic stability control
