Test details:
The Hyundai Equus was introduced in the 2011 model year. The car is derived from the Hyundai Genesis, but is larger, heavier, and more expensive. Frontal ratings are assigned by the Institute based on a test conducted by Hyundai as part of frontal crash test verification. (The tested car was designated as a 2010 model but was representative of 2011 models built for the US market.)
Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the roof rail.
Injury measures — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity. Head acceleration from the roof rail hit was negligible.
