Test details:

The Toyota Sienna was redesigned for the 2011 model year. Frontal ratings are assigned by the Institute based on a test conducted by Toyota as part of frontal crash test verification.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. The side curtain airbags on both sides of the vehicle deployed during the crash. After the dummy moved forward into the frontal airbag, its head contacted the driver side curtain airbag.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.

Additional features:

  • Side airbags: head curtain airbags for all three rows of seats and front seat-mounted torso airbags
  • Driver knee airbag: a separate airbag in the lower instrument panel designed to minimize knee injuries in frontal crashes
  • Electronic stability control
  • Antilock brakes
  • Daytime running lights
