Test details:

The Nissan Sentra was redesigned for the 2007 model year.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. The driver side curtain and side thorax airbags deployed during the crash. During rebound, the dummy’s head contacted the side curtain airbag, which kept the head away from any stiff structure that could cause injury.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity. (Note: during the test, some of the injury data from the chest were not obtained, but after the Institute reviewed comparable test data from Nissan, the chest injury risk was rated good.)

Left to right:

  • Action shot taken during the frontal offset crash test.
  • The dummy's position in relation to the steering wheel and instrument panel after the crash test indicates that the driver's survival space was maintained well.
  • Smeared greasepaint indicates where the dummy's head contacted the side curtain airbag during rebound.
  • Intrusion into the driver's space was minimal, and all leg and foot injury measures were low.

Additional features:

  • Side airbags: front and rear head curtain airbags and front seat-mounted torso airbags
  • Electronic stability control (optional beginning with 2010 models)
  • Antilock brakes (optional)

Tested vehicle specifications:

  • 2008 Nissan Sentra 2.0 S 4-door
