Chevrolet Cobalt

2006 - 2009 models

OVERALL BUMPER EVALUATION: Poor

OVERALL WEIGHTED AVERAGE DAMAGE: $1,906

TEST DETAILS: During the front full-overlap test, the Chevrolet Cobalt bumper system underrode the barrier, resulting in damage to the cover, energy absorber, reinforcement, hood, both fenders and both headlamps. Additionally, the upper radiator support was buckled, the sidemember flanges bent and the air conditioning condenser was crushed. During the rear full-overlap test, the bumper engaged the barrier, limiting damage to the bumper system (cover and energy absorber). During the front corner test, there was no bumper/barrier lateral engagement, resulting in the headlamp being crushed by the barrier backstop; in turn, the headlamp was pushed into the fender, chipping paint off of the fender. During the rear corner test, there was slight bumper/barrier lateral engagement, resulting in the crushing of the left rear body panel and lower quarter panel extension, in addition to cover and absorber damage.
