Chrysler PT Cruiser

2006 - 2009 models

OVERALL BUMPER EVALUATION: Poor

OVERALL WEIGHTED AVERAGE DAMAGE: $2,340

TEST DETAILS: During the front full-overlap test, the Chrysler PT Cruiser bumper system underrode the barrier, resulting in damage to the cover, energy absorber, reinforcement, grille, radiator support, hood, both fenders, sidemember ends and air conditioning condenser. Additionally, the top tank of the radiator was cracked, causing a coolant leak and making this vehicle inoperable. During the rear full-overlap test, the bumper engaged the barrier; however, in addition to cover, energy absorber and reinforcement damage, the rear body panel was crushed and the bumper cover vertically loaded the tailgate, rolling its lower edge. During the front corner test, there was no bumper/barrier lateral engagement, resulting in the headlamp being crushed by the barrier backstop; in turn, the headlamp was driven into the fender, slightly dimpling the fender and crushing the underlying brackets. Additionally, the inner fender (splash shield) was cracked. During the rear corner test, the bumper engaged the barrier; however, in addition to bumper cover and reinforcement damage, the rear body panel was creased at the bumper mount.
