Gary Kusumi is elected IIHS board chairman

ARLINGTON, VA — The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is pleased to announce the election of Gary Kusumi as the new chairman of the Board of Directors. Kusumi is president and chief executive officer of GMAC Insurance Personal Lines. He succeeds Richard R. McLaughlin Jr., vice president, Amica Mutual Insurance. McLaughlin served as IIHS chairman during 2006 and will continue to serve as a member of the Board.

"I look forward to working with this Board and my colleagues in the important endeavor of making our highways safer," Kusumi says. Institute president Adrian Lund adds, "Gary's strong leadership will help us continue to build on our successful research and crash test programs in 2007."
