Brian Boyden is elected IIHS board chairman

ARLINGTON, VA — The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is pleased to announce the election of Brian V. Boyden as the new chairman of the Board of Directors. Boyden is executive vice president, State Farm Insurance Companies. He succeeds Gary Kusumi, president and chief executive officer, personal lines, of GMAC Insurance. Kusumi served as IIHS chairman during 2007 and will continue to serve as a member of the Board.

"The Institute has been working for more than 50 years to help reduce injuries, deaths, and property damage on our nation's roads. It's a goal we all share. I look forward to working with my colleagues and fellow Board members on this very important and challenging work," Boyden says. Institute president Adrian Lund adds, "Brian's strong leadership will help us continue to build on our successful research and crash test programs in 2008."

The new chairman-elect is Gregory V. Ostergren, chairman, president, and chief executive officer, American National Property & Casualty Companies.
