To get a learners permit you must
Have a minimum age of 15, 6 months
Before getting an intermediate or restricted license you must
Have your permit for 6 months
Complete minimum supervised driving of 50 hours, 10 of which must be at night
Have a minimum age of 161
Restrictions during intermediate or restricted license stage
Nighttime restriction midnight-6 a.m. (first 12 months), 1 a.m.-5 a.m. (second 12 months) secondary enforcement
Passenger limit (family members excepted unless otherwise noted) first 12 months—no more than 1 passenger
Minimum age at which restrictions may be lifted
Nighttime restriction 24 months (min. age: 18)
Passenger restriction 12 months (min. age: 17)

1In Ohio, driver education is required of license applicants younger than 18. Applicants who are 18 and older and who have failed the road test must complete an abbreviated driver training course.
