Important: Frontal crash test ratings should be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.

The Nissan Maxima was redesigned for the 1995 model year and the Infiniti I30 was introduced in the 1996 model year.

Injury measures

Measures taken from the neck and chest indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the dummy's head that occurred when it hit the steering wheel through the airbag indicate that injuries to the head would be possible. Forces on both tibias indicate that injuries to the lower legs would be likely.

Restraints and dummy kinematics

Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. The driver seat came loose on its tracks and moved forward 8.5 inches on the right side, where the safety belt is anchored, and 3 inches on the left side. Both legs jammed against the instrument panel. The right knee hit the ignition key, producing a gash in the vinyl "skin" of the dummy at its knee.
