The photos and videos shown here may be of a different model, model year or body type from the one selected. The ratings of one vehicle often apply to other models if they are built on the same platform. In addition, a test of a vehicle from one model year may apply to earlier or later model years if the vehicle hasn't been significantly redesigned.

Important: Frontal crash test ratings should be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.

The Nissan Frontier was introduced in the 1998 model year.

Injury measures

Measures from the chest indicate low risk of injuries to this body region in a crash of this severity. A high head acceleration occurred when the dummy's head hit the steering wheel through the airbag indicating that injuries to the head could be possible. Forces on both tibias indicate that injuries to the lower left leg would be likely and injuries to the lower right leg would be possible. Accelerations on the left foot indicate that injuries to the foot would be possible. Head acceleration from the B-pillar hit was low.

Restraints and dummy kinematics

Dummy movement was reasonably well controlled. There was too much upward movement of the steering wheel. After the dummy moved forward into the airbag, it rebounded into the seat. Then it moved toward the driver door, which had bowed outward, and its head hit the B-pillar.
