Important: Frontal crash test ratings should be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.

The Jeep Patriot was introduced in the 2007 model year.

Structure

The driver's space was seriously compromised by intruding structure. Lower interior intrusion measured as much as 29 cm at the hinge pillar, and the upper hinge pillar and instrument panel intruded 20-25 cm.

Injury measures

Measures from the dummy indicate that injuries to the left lower leg would be likely in a crash of this severity. Injuries to the left thigh and right lower leg would be possible .

Restraints and dummy kinematics

The dummy’s head barely contacted the frontal airbag before sliding off the left side as the steering column moved 21 cm upward and 15 cm to the right, resulting in little airbag cushioning for the chest and leaving the head vulnerable to contact with forward side structure. Additionally, the seat belt allowed excessive forward excursion of the dummy’s head and torso, and the driver's seat tipped forward and toward the B-pillar. The side curtain airbag did not deploy, leaving the dummy's head vulnerable to contacts with side structure and outside objects.

Important: Frontal crash test ratings should be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.

The Jeep Patriot was introduced in the 2007 model year.

Injury measures

Measures taken from the neck, chest, and both legs indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. A high head acceleration occurred when the dummy's head hit the steering wheel through the airbag, indicating that head injuries would be possible. Head accelerations from the roof rail and B-pillar hits were low.

Restraints and dummy kinematics

Dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the roof rail and B-pillar.

Side crash test ratings can be compared across vehicle categories.

The Jeep Patriot was introduced in the 2007 model year. Seat-mounted torso airbags for front seat occupants became standard in 2014 models (they had been optional in earlier models). Front and rear side curtain airbags were standard in all model years.

The side impact crash test ratings also apply to Jeep Compass, a vehicle similar to the Patriot but with a different roofline, beginning with 2007 models.

Injury measures

Driver — Measures taken from the dummy indicate that rib fractures would be possible in a crash of this severity. The risk of significant injuries to other body regions is low.

Passenger — Measures taken from the dummy indicate that loading to the shoulder was excessive. The risk of significant injuries to other body regions is low.

Head protection

Driver — The dummy’s head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof and a side airbag that deployed from the seat.

Passenger — The dummy’s head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof.
