Important: Frontal crash test ratings should be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee was redesigned for the 1999 model year.

Injury measures

Measures taken from the head, neck, and chest indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on both tibias indicate that injuries to the lower legs would be possible. Head acceleration from the B-pillar hit was low.

Restraints and dummy kinematics

Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. As the dummy moved into the airbag, it moved toward the driver door. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the B-pillar. There was far too much upward movement of the steering wheel.
