Important: Frontal crash test ratings should be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.

The 1996 GMC Safari is a twin of the tested vehicle.

The Chevrolet Astro and GMC Safari were introduced in the 1985 model year.

Injury measures

Measures taken from the head, neck, chest, and right leg indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the left femur and tibia indicate that injuries to the upper and lower leg would be likely. Head acceleration from the steering wheel hit was low.

Restraints and dummy kinematics

Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. After moving forward into the airbag, the dummy's head was hit from behind by the seatback as it moved forward because of floor buckling. The dummy's head hit the steering wheel through the airbag as the wheel moved upward and the seat pitched forward.
